Braveheart Boxers - Our History

We began with our first Boxer in April 1991. Roxie, Petri's Lady Roxanne, was a plain fawn female from a "back yard breeder" we had found in the newspaper. She turned out to be one of the best dogs we ever had. She was a little difficult to housebreak at first, but Roxie turned out to be a great family dog. She was the reason we fell in love with the breed. In early 1992 we decided to get a male boxer and found Cujo, Petri's Cujo The Rebel. He was a flashy fawn male that was out of Sentry and Huffand lines. With Cujo, we were on our way to studying the breed, and trying to learn as much as possible. Roxie and Cujo were bred to produce our first litter in 1993. After Cujo passed away in 1996, we decided to get our first show dog, Ch. Gray Dawn's Gallant Quest. Thor was a beautiful mover who finished his championship in just 4 months of being handled by Julie Sako. We got hooked on the show scene, and joined the Michigan Boxer Club in 1998. We began using the Braveheart Boxers prefix around that time, as braveheart is a synonym for gallant, and it seemed to fit Thor nicely. Thor has produced several quality show prospects, including Am/Can Ch. Cameliard's Color Me Gone, Can Ch. Velvet Muzzle Beau's Daisy, and Overzealous Zaire Majestic, who has both majors and 12 points, and should soon be an American Champion. Thor passed away in 2002 after a heartbreaking struggle with a brain tumor. He was a "Gentle Giant" and we miss him dearly. In 1999, we found our current "lady of the house", Isabelle, Braveheart's Isabelle Of Jodi, who is a strongly linebred flashy fawn girl. Her pedigree is strongly influenced by Am/Can Ch. Jodi's Jeremiah, and she is sired by Ch. Jodi's White Lightning. Isabelle is a gorgeous girl who just never liked to show. She has a few major reserves, but was never happy in the ring, and is now retired and finding life quite cushy as our house mom. Isabelle was bred to our Ch. Gray Dawn's Gallant Quest and produced a nice litter of 7 pups. We kept a boy out of this litter, Braveheart's First Quest, better known as Apollo. There is also another beautiful Boxer from that litter, "Braveheart's First Lady", Chickie, owned by John and Michelle Toth. Chickie recently whelped a litter of pups sired by our Adonis, Braveheart's Uncommon Valor Isabelle was bred again in 2003, to Ch. Jodi's Donneybrook, Mully. This breeding produced a beautiful litter of 7 pups as well, and we kept another male, Braveheart's Uncommon Valor, who we call Adonis, or Donny for short. He is a gorgeous brindle male, with a beautiful head. He is now available for stud and producing some very beautiful puppies. In February of 2004 Apollo, produced a gorgeous litter of 8 with Sierra, "Sierra Storm Mcneil" (owned by Paula Mcneil). We kept a beautiful girl from that litter, Braveheart's Black Swan "Abigail". She is a dark, flashy, brindle with beautiful markings. Abigail has a very laid back temperament and is a pleasure in the home. In June of 2006 we bred Braveheart's Uncommon Valor "Adonis" with Abigail. This breeding produced a very beautiful and flashy litter. We were very pleased with this breeding so we decided again to breed Abigail one last time with Adonis in early March of 2008. On May 11th, 2008 Abigail became a wonderful mother for the second time and she is doing well. Please check out our puppy page for more information on Abigail and her new litter.
